Why Am I Buffering ?

Buffering Solutions Buffering Solutions can be hard to decipher. Most buffering problems come down to a weak or under powered streaming device and/or poor internet service. Below we will go over, internet speeds & tests, streaming devices and hardware performance, app maintenance & settings, speed throttling, net neutrality and VPN’s. You could have more than one problem affecting your buffering situation. Internet Resolutions There are many things to consider when dealing with your internet connection and speeds. Buffering can be caused by many different things. We will try to keep things as simple as possible, but please understand that not everyone has the same setup or options available to them. Therefore, as technology improves more and more devices rely on your internet and WiFi connection. The amount of speed required depends on how many devices you use in your household. You also want to consider the quality of your current router and/or streaming device. Internet Speeds Internet speeds have a lot to do with things. We recommend allowing 25 mbps per active streaming device for viewing, Nitro TV. Keep in mind a hard-wired Ethernet connection will give you the best results. Most routers, even the great ones, will loose some signal strength over a WiFi connection. So then, a 100 mbps service plan will be enough for most users but this all depends on how many devices are been used at the same time. If someone in your household does a lot of online gaming then you will want to consider getting the best and strongest service available. Doing a speed test can help you resolve and diagnose any buffering issues you may encounter. Always do a speed test from the actual device you are using and/or having problems with. We recommend using the Ookla speed test app that can be found in the Google play store or you can get it directly from your web browser by going to https://www.speedtest.net/ As usual, all Firestick users must use a different application available from the Amazon app store. The application is called Analiti and can be found in the Amazon Marketplace NOTE: If you want Filelinked and you do not have Google Chrome, you will need to use the Downloader or Puffin Browser app depending on the device you are using . Type get.filelinked.com/ into the Downloader app and select on download, then Install the Filelinked app. When using Chrome or the Puffin Browser simply type Filelinked APK in the search field. Open the first site on the list and download Filelinked right from the official site https://www.filelinked.com/ Filelinked Code 85644332 Routers Most routers provided by your internet service are sub-par at best compared to whats available on the market today. If your using a stock router, then we strongly recommend hard-wiring your streaming device via Ethernet port. If hard-wiring isn’t a option then you may need to upgrade your router. There are many different situations that need to be considered when choosing a router. Depending upon your needs we recommend using google to research routers specs, performance and reviews. Upgrading your router has many advantages. Not only can you improve your signal strength and range, but many of them allow you to optimize the settings to fit your needs. Almost all new routers have an app that you can use to help manage such things like, parental controls, password settings, device lists, apply a VPN to cover all devices, updating router firmware and much more. WiFi Usage Another thing you should learn is how many devices are on each bandwidth. What i mean by this is most people have a dual band router which provides you 2 separate WiFi bandwidths for your devices to run on. There is the 2.4 Ghz bandwidth, which provides a lower frequency but wider WiFi umbrella range. And the 5 GHz bandwidth, which has a stronger yet higher frequency with a shorter WiFi umbrella range. Most devices like your printer, camera systems, and other household WiFi reliant devices use the 2.4 GHz bandwidth, and many are setup this way by default. Now the 5 GHz bandwidth should be used for devices like your phones, tablets, Android boxes, computers and any other devices that you use for streaming media content. Many of these devices allow you to pick which bandwidth you prefer, do can this by going to the device’s settings. You don’t want to have your 5 GHz bandwidth to be over crowded. We recommend putting all non- essential devices on the 2.4 GHz band. We also strongly recommend hard-wiring in any or all streaming devices via Ethernet when possible Streaming Devices The quality of a streaming device depends on the the chipset that is installed. The CPU (central processing unit) is often referred to as the brains of the device. The terms octa-core and quad-core denote the number of processor cores in a CPU. Octa is eight, quad is four. When advanced tasks are needed, then the faster set of four cores will kick in on octa core devices. With an octa-core certain tasks simply load faster and cause less strain on the device overall, like loading the EPG, installing new apps, starting up and running apps that require a lot of space to manage. A GPU (graphics processing unit) which is referred to as the soul of the device, is a specialized type of microprocessor, primarily designed for quick image rendering. The 1080 and 4K content relies heavily on the quality and strength of the streaming device’s CPU & GPU. Both the CPU and GPU work together and rely on each other for running apps and streaming content, that’s why it’s important to get the best! Some quad core devices will stream content just fine but they are a slow dying breed that just won’t be able to keep up with streaming 4k which is the future. Speed Throttling & VPN's The technique that ISP’s use is commonly referred to as Throttling or Bandwidth Shaping. Simply put it means that they attempt to sort the web traffic coming from your computer into different categories and then deliberately slow down certain types of traffic. Buffering solutions are hard to decipher when throttling occurs and testing with a VPN is your best way to diagnose your symptoms. Among the most commonly throttled data types are: torrent downloads, and HD streaming video. Your ISP (Internet Provider) is your doorway to the internet. Every piece of data you send and receive goes through their servers and their network. As a result, they have direct access to all data you transmit. They can directly analyze your data using a technology called Deep Packet Inspection. Deep Packet Inspection allows your ISP to analyze individual data packets. They can determine where the data is going from/to, what type of data it is (web traffic, video data, music, torrent, etc) and even see specifically what file or website the data packet belongs to. Since they can identify your data types, your ISP can actively filter an sort your data packets into different categories. They can then selectively block or slow down specific categories of data. This is throttling! Is there any way to prevent throttling? Your ISP’s ability to throttle your torrent traffic depends on their ability to identify and sort your traffic. If you can block the Deep Packet Inspection, you can block the throttling. Fortunately you can achieve this with a very simple and inexpensive tool, known as a Virtual Private Network, commonly referred as a VPN. VPN'S To block throttling you have to block your ISP’s ability to read your traffic. The best way to do this is to encrypt all data going to and from your computer. If all data is encrypted, your ISP will be unable to read or sort your data as it passes through their network. As a result, you get maximum bandwidth and no throttling. To encrypt your data we used tool called a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Is a VPN Hard to Use? Even though the concept of a VPN sounds complex, most VPN providers offer software that makes it very easy to use. All you have to do is open the VPN software and click connect. The VPN does the rest. Additional benefits of a VPN Beyond encrypting your data, a VPN provides a great deal of anonymity and secrecy when visiting websites or downloading torrent files. A VPN changes your public IP address which is the only personally identifying piece of information that appears in a bittorrent swarm. This makes torrent activity almost impossible to track. See why we recommend a VPN for torrents. Is a VPN Expensive? No. The number of VPN services has grown exponentially in the past few years and prices have dropped dramatically due to increased competition. This routes all your data through a third-party server before going to its final destination. All data transferred between your computer and the VPN server are wrapped in a layer of very strong encryption that makes the data completely unreadable without the key to decode it (which only you have). Which VPN works best with Nitro TV? After testing many different VPN’s we have found that all of them reduce your speeds by at least 1/3, what seems to matter the most is how strong that connection actually is and how well it works with the services we sell. PIA, Private Internet Access, works extremely well and is very reasonably priced. Get it today for just $3.33/ month PIA VPN to Purchase Helpful Tip / Quick Guide Below are some helpful suggested tips and applications you can try. Some methods may work but you could still be in need of upgrading your services if buffering issues persist. Reboot streaming device and or router A hardwired Ethernet connected device will provide the best results. Make sure you do not have any apps running in the background. Force Close, Shut App, and or Close Tabs in streaming device before opening the Nitro app. Make sure your apps settings are adjusted to meet your device’s capabilities. Tip – Change player decoder to Native for Firesticks and some other devices. See more on How to adjust Nitro TV settings Does buffering only occur during peak hours, then you may need to upgrade your internet service or change providers but also look into speed throttling mentioned above. Does buffering only occur on 1080 channels, then look into upgrading your internet service and or streaming device. If the problem is on most or all channels then it is somewhere on your end. Please read this page fully to help diagnose your situation. The problem is on just one channel, First try a different app, if problem persist then you may report it on the Nitro TV Official Facebook group in the reporting zone. Always use the newest recommended Nitro TV app. Right now Nitro TV just released on 2/1 a new app called Nitrous and can be found in our Filelinked Code 85644332
